Fiona and I were lucky enough to attend the 2nd Annual 'Women in Winks" charity fundraiser lunch hosted by the ladies at Forty Winks. With 100% of proceeds going to Cancer Council Australia, we were honoured to participate and contribute to such a great cause.

On a particularly sunny Friday afternoon at Red Scooter in Elsernwick, the team at Forty Winks, store staff, suppliers and those alike joined together to share in a wonderful meal and some light entertainment - all in the name of fundraising of course!

While we tucked into a delicious meal and sipped champage, we scoped out the treats in our goodie bags - which was all donated by various suppliers in an effort to raise funds for the event. We also browsed the fabulous products and vouchers up for grabs in the silent auction (Fiona in particular had her eye on a Peninsula Hot Springs voucher).

There were a few lamps by Mayfield in the silent action - we can only hope the bidding for these was outrageously high! Raffle tickets were also on offer for purchase, so we indulged hoping to get lucky but knowing that win or lose the money was going to an honourable cause.

There was also a serious side to the event, with some of the Forty Winks family that have been touched by cancer sharing stories with us, helping us all to experiences a little of their battles, and the highs and lows that come with a cancer diagnosis. Although confronting to hear, statistic show that 1 in 2 people will be touched with cancer at some stage in their life. This gave us all the more encouragement to dig deep in our pockets and contribute the best way we can towards cancer cure research.

We'd like to extend a huge congraulations for the Forty Winks family for putting on such a wonderful event. The total tally of funds raised was $16,037! This generous donation will no doubt help Cancer Council Australia and the wonderful work and research they do.

Thank you again to the team at Forty Winks for inviting us to participate, we already can't wait to do it all again!
